✨How important is your formatting, the typesetting, the interior design of your book?
A question that I answered myself very early on, and not just the paperback but the Kindle edition too...
.
✨This is my opinion; I know lots will agree and other's may have differing thoughts: It is all about the Story after all! But after spending months, sometimes years spilling our hearts onto the page to create something of note, it feels only natural to me to carry that love and attention to the finished creation...we employ the skills of editors, proofreaders after all, but sometimes the tiny details, those subtle elements that can visually enhance and entice, are overlooked.

✨I've spent the past few days reformatting my own books, simply adding a few of these elements but keeping the feel, the genre of the story... I'm thrilled with the subtle details in Daughters of the Oak.

I recently had a wander around one of my favourite antique & collectible centres and forgot I'd taken some pics...so here they are!

Just look at that incredible typewriter!
I love places like this, rummaging around in the past, the feel of an antique in my hand, the smell (you know that musty smell of age) I love it! 😂 I find it comforting, it's nostalgia, a link to the past...💛 I think that's why I write historical fiction. I have nostalgia running through my viens. .
I used to own antiques (I actually used to deal in Antiques) but life changes and moves on and I no longer have anything with any real age, other than a Victorian Doulton vase which I kept.

Then it got me thinking...

Has anyone read it? The cover is beautiful and really spoke to me. ✨
So I've not read nearly enough Edgar Allan Poe for my liking (something I'm going to rectify) but as we're planning a trip to Boston for my 50th I thought this was a must buy. .
